Kaia Livingstone’s Horse Training Workshops
June 5, 6 & 7, 2015 - Student’s Stage training 

This workshop is from 9 to 3 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and is only open to current students. This workshop is designed to go over each “stage” of horse training and what will be required from each rider to graduate from a stage. 

Friday Schedule - Stage 1

Friday will be spent working on the ground with our horses, learning and improving our basic games, how to tack up at liberty, and how to work at liberty with a mounting block.

9:00 - Get settled and check-in

9:15 - Understanding herd dynamics

10:00 - Example of basic games, how to introduce a neck rope on the ground, and work around a mounting block

11:00 - Take turns working with two different types of horses

12:00 - Lunch and go over the Stage 1 graduation requirements 

12:30 - Practice games with each horse and address issues and concerns

2:30 - Swim at Helen’s house


Saturday Schedule - Stage 2

Saturday will be spent working with riding our horses and proper equitation while combining our stage 1 knowledge

9:00 - Human game

9:30 - Tack up your horse at liberty in their pen, or turnout pen

10:30 -  Seat, hands, & legs lesson. What is their role and how do we improve them.

12:00 - Lunch and go over classical riders in history

12:30 - Tack up horses again for our field lesson. Classic seat and hands while riding in the open

2:30 - Swim at Helen’s house


Sunday Schedule - Stage 3

Sunday will be spent learning how to work and come up with a training plan for different types of horses.

9:00 - Equine circle

10:00 - Different or not so different? That is the question. Training plans for horses

10:30 - Evaluate and working with a different horse

11:30 - Lunch and go over training pyramid

12:00 - Rider’s shuffle 

2:30 - Swim




Please bring:

- Lunch and water bottle

- Sunscreen, hat, and long sleeve shirt & Swim suit (jeans for Friday, riding clothes Sunday)

- Appropriate foot wear for working around horses like closed toe shoes

- No need to bring riding clothes/boots on Friday but you will need them Saturday and Sunday
