Training the Mind, Body, and Heart
“The Best in the Person Brings out The Best in the Horse, and vice versa.” -Kaia
Kaia has studied horse training, riding, showing, and whispering with some of the best in the business and passes her wisdom and knowledge down to her students. She has studied, shown, and rode in a number of disciplines and events mainly focusing on Classical Dressage and Hunter/Jumpers. Kaia also uses the opportunities of problem solving in horses to deepen our understanding of the horse. She combines the excellent work and understanding of each discipline to help students and riders speak to their horse in a way that the horse can understand. Riding lessons are focused: - On understanding the horse - Speaking to the part of the horse that is willing to work with you - Developing relationship with the horse - Working towards an ideal seat that can get the most movement and balance - Picking a discipline that you and your horse can excel in and starting the horse and rider correctly in that direction - Mindset towards showing and competition if rider desires to do so Riders are taught: -How to train both on the ground and in the saddle -Putting the horse “on the bit” and asking for relaxation -Lateral work -Balance in both the horse’s and the rider’s body and mind - Positive Psychology as well as making contact with what comes up in the moment - Jumping both gymnastics and courses -Cross country, conditioning, hill work, and trail riding Topics that are covered in training are: -Horse safety -The difference between horse and human language -Herd dynamics and how horses communicate -"Join-up" with your horse -Groundwork and activities off the back -Proper independent seat for riding (equitation) -Clear communication in the saddle -Horse care and maintenance -Education around horse bits, saddles, and "tools" Many students go on to successfully train, compete, and enjoy their horses for years to come.
